Everyone’s getting into that Podcasting thing nowadays. Case in point: those wacky kids from SkinnyCorp launched their own podcast.

Mental note: get off my ass and start recording again, or at least finish working on preliminary stuff for the new podcast I want to start. (Complete with audience interaction! w00t!)

Having a web page that links to an MP3 file for people to download, does not make something a podcast. For example, Wikipedia has this to say on the subject…

Podcasting is distinct from other types of online media delivery because of its subscription model, which uses a feed (such as RSS or Atom) to deliver an enclosed file. Podcasting enables independent producers to create self-published, syndicated “radio shows,” and gives broadcast radio programs a new distribution method. Listeners may subscribe to feeds using “podcatching” software (a type of aggregator), which periodically checks for and downloads new content automatically.

C-SPAN Podcasts: C-SPAN is now offering podcasts of some of its most popular programs.

So, Macromedia hopped on the podcast bandwagon the other day (and it actually was a pretty decent show, I thought), but they’ve gone one better and launched a Podcast Mashup Contest where the winners can win a snazzy flash logo messenger bag from Timbuk2.

So go grab a copy of Audacity and have at it!
