Next week work is sending John and myself to Flash Forward. So everyone’s trying to pick what workshops and such to go to and I think for the sake of people who won’t be there (and just for my own personal edification) I’m going to try to post a podcast review of the sessions I go to.
So, keep an ear out for that, I guess. See how things go using a borrowed laptop for remote podcast action. Heck, if I’m lucky maybe I can convince some of my acquaintances who’re presenting to do little follow-up interviews or some such thing.

So, I downloaded the new version of iTunes to check out the big “integrated podcasting” features. Color me unimpressed. So far you can only subscribe to podcasts that are run through the iTunes store interface? What if I just want to sign up for a test podcast? What if I want to subscribe to a podcast that’s not going to meet their content standards?
Update: Okay, I suppose if I would have just looked through all the assorted buried menu options on my own I would have noticed the “Subscribe to Podcast” menu option under the advanced menu. Hat tip to John for the link.

So, Macromedia hopped on the podcast bandwagon the other day (and it actually was a pretty decent show, I thought), but they’ve gone one better and launched a Podcast Mashup Contest where the winners can win a snazzy flash logo messenger bag from Timbuk2.
So go grab a copy of Audacity and have at it!

Experiencing some minor DNS/Apache Configuration issues at the moment, but hopefully everything should switch over correctly and be all live and such shortly.
So: Welcome to the new site! If you spot anything weird going on please feel free to leave a comment to let me know what and where.

I was being chased by C.H.U.D.
Man: Flesh-eating aliens were chasing me when I caused fatal car crash
A California man facing life in prison for crashing his car into a UPS truck will not dispute that his actions resulted in the death of the driver when his trial opens Monday in Nevada County Superior Court.
Instead, Scott Krause’s defense will argue that the defendant believed he was trying to escape man-eating subterranean beings when he ran into Drew Reynolds’ truck on Jan. 6, 2004.

After seeing it on Deirdre’s site I decided to take part in the MIT Blog Survey.
I feel all cool now.

This code is still a little rough around the edges, but it’s been working alright for me so far. It’s based on the standard wp-rss2.php code that comes with WordPress but rather than generating XML for RSS, it publishes to the Microsoft CDF format. For right now I’ve been saving this file as index.cdf and then adding this code to my .htaccess file to parse the file as PHP. I don’t know if that’s really necessary, but I figured it couldn’t hurt.
AddType application/x-httpd-php .cdf
Full source code is available here.

Just a brief bit to test out the new theme music for the podcast as well as to give a (very) brief update on the status of the website (go-go web-standards action!).
Back to the grindstone for me. Want to get this done over the weekend.

Okay, I just thought I’d put this up as a candidate for some Podcast theme music I managed to put together for my as-yet unnamed and sporadic podcast. Enjoy and let me know what you think.
