Seriously, if you use JavaScript for anything and haven’t been trying out jQuery you’re on crack. Now that it’s got its own AJAX library you should be able to stop using Prototype as a whole if you wanted to (and oh do I want to).
AJAX new FX and more!
The new AJAX plugin for jQuery is ready - and if you’re running off of the latest code, it’s already rolled in. Along with that, there are a few new effects to be enjoyed: fadeIn, fadeOut, and center.

As much as I love Make Magazine, I still cannot let them go without a big slap for using Helvetica (actually Helvetica Neue) for the default typeface on their new website. I work in design, I have both of those, but still: It renders like crap on PCs!™

Got word that work is going to be sending my supervisor and myself to SXSW Interactive in March so I’ve been keeping some little notes of some of the other things going on around there to keep track of.

DC 2.0: The Web 2.0 Community in the Nation’s Capital
The first DC area Web 2.0 event: State of Web 2.0
Meet those interested in the next generation of the Web.
This event will sell out.
Emphasis theirs.
Having worked with some friends to try to organize an event in DC before (RIP DC404) I feel their pain in terms of not having a venue. We never did have enough luck to actually find one for ourselves so our project died on the table.

Sure, Prototype is useful, and Script.aculo.us and moo.fx have nice effects. But what’s really rocking my work this week is jQuery. It’s awesome, really.
I had played with it a little bit to use the effects and such, but today started digging into it for some hot unobtrusive JS action and it’s damn fine stuff.

Pete writes about snoring (and records it no less, i just might have a new ringtone!) and links up a piece on sleep apnea from decafbad (that sounds eerily similar to my own situation) the same day that I try to call to schedule a sleep apnea screening and nobody at the office answers the phone.
